THE HILLS ARE ALIVE

by: Bob Reccord

This last weekend I found myself in one of the most beautiful after of the country…Ashville, North Carolina. And at a beautiful and breathtaking retreat center. And men from across eastern North Carolina, and several states (including California) flooded into a Spring Men’s Conference led by two of the finest men I know…Leon and Joel. Just under 500 of them.

And we got down to business. We dealt with issues like “When Your Outgo Exceeds Your Intake” in life, and “Forgiveness.” Issues that men struggle with all the time. Going, going, going….and not taking time to refuel. And holding hurts, grudges, wounds, and memories that have left the soul battered and bruised. The need to forgive fathers who hurt us…intentionally or unintentionally. Forgiving business colleagues who let us down. Those who threw mud with us as the target. Family members who left us hanging on broken dreams and hopes…which they had helped fracture.

And we focused on Finishing Well….making it to the finish line so that the Master can say “Well done!” But that takes some intentional decisions now…so that we can be standing strong then.

And men responded overwhelmingly. One said, “I have be able to forgive others but this weekend I have been able to forgive the hardest person to forgive…me!” Another said, “I almost didn’t come…just due to some last minute tension in my family. But I came any way…with some of them…and accepted Christ’s invitation to be part of His family. And that’s going to change my family.” And a doc said his whole priority system experienced an “extreme makeover” and that is already impacting his family!

The hills were indeed alive…with the presence of God impacting lives. How has He impacted you lately? Even if you haven’t been in the hills!

What a weekend!!! This was my sixth year and it just seems to get better and better. I recommend every man no matter where you are in your journey in life, to go. Bob Reccord and Ken Smith really delivered the goods! This is the second time I have heard Bob, and I must say he gets better every time. I saw men forgive, men surrender, men get saved, men shed tears for the first time in a long time. What a great adventure!

    Thanks Bob!!!

What a weekend!!! This was my sixth year and it just seems to get better each year. Bob Reccord and Ken Smith were the “Dynamic Duo” and really delivered the goods! This is the second time I’ve heard Bob, and I have been blessed each time. I saw men forgive, men surrender, men get saved, and men shed tears for the first time in a long time. Need I say more!

Bob, thank you for your presentation this past weekend at the Billy Graham Training Center for the Providence Men’s event. I was both moved and inspired by your comments which were from the heart. I was there with my son-in-law and you delivered the exact message that both of needed to hear. It inspired me to make my walk more obedient with my Lord and Savior. I have been going to the Cove for several years and your presentation was one of the best I have heard there. May God continue to bless you and keep you. Rex Thomas

Thank you for your participation in the Men’s retreat at The Cove. You delivered God’s message in a manner that was revealing and easy to understand. This was my second year at The Cove. You are a part of what makes this event meaningful to an everyday man like me who struggles. Bless you.

What a LIFE CHANGING weekend at the Cove. This was my 4th Year in a row to attend and each year is even better. I sure do not want to miss a year. Bob you have so impacted my life, I will never be the same. I love your book- “Beneath the Surface”. I have decided to use it in my small groups at Pritchard Memorial Church in Charlotte. For many years I have studied the Titanic and I love the spiritual application relating to what often goes on beneath the surface of our lives. Ken Smith you were great too, in fact the best I have ever heard you speak. I met some wonderful guys from wonderful guys again from Providence and what a dynamic Church you must have there. I will be forever blessed. Thanks again.

Thank you for the wonderful weekend of men comeing together as men. Bob’s words struck certain toes that I never knew were there. Forgiveness was one of the things I needed to give and ask for. Through the messages and closeness of men that weekend it taught me just how much I was lacking as a man.

Again thanks Bob for following the Lord’s call on your life.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You’re messages were on the mark, and I certainly felt the Holy Spirit’s leading. You led us through brokenness and into the beginning of triumph with the armor of God. Our group included a father and son for whom your messages were especially poignant. I ask the Lord’s blessing on your ministry and His protection of your heart.
