Dear Dr. Bob Reccord,

I pray this note finds you doing great. Know that all of us in Orlando continue to keep you and your team in our prayers because of the important work you do and the far reaching impact you have.

Right now we are in the process of getting applications from students who are interested in interning with us this summer. Because all applicants must have completed through SLU 301, one of the questions we ask them is to share with us what aspects of the program that has had the most impact on them. Dr. Reccord, I don’t think I have made it through one of those questions without seeing your name mentioned. For instance, these are some of the things we have been seeing:

“One of the people that really made a big impact on my life during 201 was Bob Record. He spoke with passion, conviction, and humility. Going to 201 showed me the importance of character in leadership, the rich history of our country and the urgent need for Godly leadership today. After 201 I went home and became very active in leadership at my school and determined to made a difference my senior year.”

“On the SLU 301 trip, the other students and I had a wonderful opportunity to travel and hear from prominent speakers and that was a great experience! I really enjoyed hearing from Bob Reccord. He shared a quote with me that has become such a motivator for me. I have it in the front of my planner and on my bulletin board at school. The quote is, ‘Lord lead me anywhere, just go with me. Lay any burden on me, just sustain me. And sever any tie in my heart except the tie that binds my heart to yours’.”

You know, Dr. Reccord, it is no surprise to me to see your name appear as an answer to a question that asks someone to list things that have had a great impact on them. For years I have watched the students’ eyes light up when you speak to them at 201 and I have seen how so many try and find you afterwards to ask you questions. God has given you a great gift in terms of being able to communicate with and motivate young people.

Anyway, Dr. Bob Reccord in case we don’t say it enough, I just wanted to pass along a big thank you for investment in these students. These application answers have been just another reminder of what a big part you play in the students’ experience at SLU!
