Bob Reccord and Promise Keepers

Two sharp looking black men in their mid twenties came forward and were standing together when Reccord approached them on the arena floor at the invitation. Bob Reccord and Promise Keepers

In Des Moines, a young man ran up to Reccord as he came off the stage to be among the men that were making decisions. But, he wasn’t totally sure why he was there. He shared with me that his wife had told him during vacation the previous week that the decisions he made in the next couple of weeks would determine whether she would stay or leave.

Just a few weeks prior to the PK rally he had watched, stunned, as his dad walked away from his wife of 46 years—and the son’s mother—to “live his own life.” But on that night, he learned that the disease of sin is what causes us to have “I” problems—and leads to charting our own course, doing our own thing and living my own life. He had tried that, in spades, and had come away empty. That night son and dad came forward together, with the dad broken and pleading for Christ to come into his life and give him a brand new beginning. As the night drew to a close, his son was overheard to say, “You just don’t know the miracle this is! I had almost come to think there was no hope for my
